  • Overview

    ThinkWell is a health systems development organization that is in a major growth phase. Our focus is on driving transformation in global health through navigating pathways that will lead to more effective use of public and private resources in the health sector and ultimately better health for all. We are looking for a Business Development Officer to support both operational and technical new business functions; including donor mapping, opportunity tracking, support to the proposal preparation, technical writing and coordination of the overall bid process. The position will be based in Washington, DC.

    Responsibilities

    Proposal Coordination and technical writing (75%)

    • Provide day-to-day support to program leads, technical and operational staff throughout the proposal process, including tracking and organizing documentation, synthesis of technical inputs, editing and final proposal consolidation.
    • Provide selected writing inputs for general proposal sections e.g., background, cross cutting areas and capability statements.
    • Coordinate the assembly of document components and annexes during the proposal development process.
    • Contribute to efforts to ensure compliance with donor’s submission requirements
    • Develop proposal graphics and diagrams as requested.
    • Provide support for submission of proposals including quality control and packaging.


    New Business Administration (25%)

    • Monitor and share new funding opportunities from multilateral and bilateral sources e.g.; through Fedbiz.gov, USAID forecast and other donor/partner data bases/websites.
    • Update and maintain the new business development pipeline
    • Provide administrative support for new business including improving tools, processes and managing Egnyte business development folders.
    • Set up, schedule, and coordinate meetings and conference calls; prepare and distribute agenda, take minutes and finalize for distribution.
    • Maintain current phone, email directory for internal and external contacts.
    • Maintain web-based document storage and information sharing through NBD webpage on ThinkWell company intranet.
    • Prepare and/or finalize PowerPoint presentations and related materials for NBD staff, as requested.
    • Research and prepare relevant materials for internal and external meetings with staff, USG and non-USG donors, potential funders, and other key groups or individuals.
    • Manage new business and proposal files.
    • Ensure templates are up to date and easily accessible to staff.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in international development, global/public health or similar. Master’s preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of new business development experience in an international development agency preferably in the global health field.
    • Strong and demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Experience with copyediting and formatting documents required.
